Allianz Core Income 7: compare income with access

Allianz Core Income 7 is a fixed indexed annuity with a Core Income Benefit rider. If you are considering it for retirement expenses, compare the payment choices, rider cost and money you may need outside the income arrangement. An income percentage by itself does not describe the whole contract.

First Freedom Life is an independent insurance business. This educational review helps you prepare an insurance comparison. Use the issuing insurer’s official records for existing-contract values and servicing instructions. Allianz’s linked brochure excludes New York and states that availability varies by state and distributor. Confirm the actual version before comparing terms.

Include the rider cost in your comparison

The income rider has an additional charge. A feature being included with a contract does not mean it is free. Ask for the current charge, how it is assessed and how it affects contract values after income begins. Allianz’s product page describes the charge and income features.

Separate protection against negative index performance from the effect of fees and withdrawals. Rider charges can reduce value even when an indexed strategy does not credit negative interest. Ask for an illustration that shows the cost alongside the benefits rather than looking only at a projected payment.

Compare level and increasing income choices

The Core Income 7 brochure describes level and increasing lifetime withdrawal options. The increasing option starts with a smaller payment and offers potential increases tied to credited interest. That is different from a promise that payments will match inflation.

Request a comparison for the same income date and household circumstances. If considering joint income, identify whose lifetimes are covered and how the payment is determined. Keep withdrawal percentages, credited interest and actual cash payments separate; a payout percentage is not an investment return.

Confirm the income date and withdrawal rules

Do not infer an income start date from the “7” in the name. Ask the insurer or appropriately appointed professional to confirm the eligible age, earliest permitted date and election requirements in the current contract and approved illustration. This guide does not promise immediate income or a universal waiting period.

Ask separately about cash surrender value, free-withdrawal allowances and the effects of taking more than the income arrangement permits. Early surrender charges and a market value adjustment can affect access. A planned lifetime withdrawal and an unexpected large withdrawal may have different consequences.

Prepare the questions that matter to your household

Bring your state, funding source, intended income date and monthly expense gap to a review. Include money needed for emergencies. If replacing another annuity, obtain its current insurer values and benefit information before comparing a new illustration; do not surrender first.

The NAIC annuity overview provides category context. Investor.gov explains costs and the dependence of insurer promises on claims-paying ability. Discuss funding and tax questions with the appropriate professionals before deciding. An inquiry starts an insurance comparison; it does not establish suitability, availability or approval.

Frequently asked questions

Does the included income rider mean there is no rider cost?

No. Allianz’s materials identify an additional rider charge. Review its current amount, assessment method and effect on contract values.

Is a lifetime withdrawal percentage an investment return?

No. It helps determine income payments. It is different from credited interest and should not be presented as an investment yield.

Does the name mean income automatically starts after seven years?

No. Confirm the eligible age, permitted start date and election requirements in the applicable current contract and approved illustration.

Does increasing income guarantee keeping up with inflation?

No inflation-matching guarantee should be inferred. Potential increases depend on the contract’s credited-interest and income provisions.
