Compare the application process and coverage together
Mutual of Omaha Term Life Express and Term Life Answers are term life insurance products underwritten by United of Omaha. Their underwriting approaches and described benefits differ. Start with the amount and duration of protection you need, then compare the actual product, premium and riders.
This is an independent First Freedom Life comparison, not the carrier's policyholder service desk. A product name or quick quote does not establish approval. Review current state-approved documents for the policy being proposed.
Simplified underwriting versus full underwriting
The carrier's April 2026 Term Life Express client brochure describes simplified underwriting. The Term Life Answers client brochure, form 210599_1024, describes full underwriting. Neither label is an automatic approval promise.
Ask which application information and evidence the carrier may require for your circumstances. Compare quotes using the same term, coverage amount, tobacco status and proposed riders. A faster process is one consideration; the final premium and coverage offered still matter.

Match the term to the need
Choose a duration by looking at the years of income replacement, mortgage payments, dependent care or education costs that matter to your household. The amount needed and how long it is needed are separate decisions. A larger policy for a shorter term may solve a different problem from a smaller policy lasting longer.
Ask what happens after the initial level-premium period. Renewal and conversion are different options: renewal continues term coverage under its rules; conversion changes to an eligible permanent policy. Get the applicable future premium schedule and conversion provisions before assuming today's payment or available choices continue indefinitely.
Riders should solve a specific need
The April 2026 Term Life Express client highlights describe living-benefit, premium-waiver and optional rider provisions. A premium waiver helps with the insurance payment under defined conditions. It is different from a disability-income rider that may pay an eligible benefit to you.
For example, the unemployment waiver described for Express has requirements concerning how long the policy has been in force and the qualifying unemployment period. Do not assume a new purchase provides immediate help for an existing layoff. Confirm the exact rider, waiting requirements and proof needed.
Accelerated death benefits also require a qualifying event. Ask how an early benefit is calculated and how it changes the remaining death benefit. Check the current state definition and discuss tax consequences with your own tax professional before relying on an acceleration.
Check conversion and coverage limits carefully
The reviewed Express highlights describe a conversion window and a restriction on converting to a fully underwritten product. If future permanent coverage matters to you, ask which eligible policies are available and what deadline applies. Request the separate conversion rules for Answers rather than assuming they match Express.
Confirm the amount available for your age, state and underwriting circumstances using current approved materials. A headline maximum is not a personalized offer. If two quotes look very different, identify whether coverage, riders, duration or underwriting assumptions changed.
Bring a clear comparison request
- How much protection is needed, and for how many years?
- What is the total premium with the riders actually selected?
- What evidence will underwriting require?
- What is payable under a qualifying living-benefit claim?
- What renewal or conversion options remain later?
For the broader decision, see our term life insurance information. Keep existing coverage in place while reviewing alternatives. If an employer benefit is ending, discuss the dates and available continuation or conversion choices before assuming a new individual policy will be approved.
Availability, pricing and eligibility require carrier review. Guarantees depend on the issuing insurer's claims-paying ability. This page provides insurance education, not personal tax or legal advice. An inquiry does not require a purchase or replacement.

Frequently asked questions
Is Term Life Express the same as Term Life Answers?
No. The reviewed consumer materials describe simplified underwriting for Express and full underwriting for Answers, with different benefit descriptions. Compare the exact policy, riders and quote.
Does simplified underwriting guarantee approval?
No. Carrier review still determines eligibility and the offer. A preliminary quote or inquiry is not an issued policy.
Does an unemployment premium waiver replace my salary?
No. A premium waiver concerns the insurance payment under defined conditions. It is different from a disability-income benefit, and an existing layoff does not establish eligibility.
Can I assume both products have the same conversion choices?
No. Ask for the current conversion window, eligible policies and restrictions for the exact contract. Keep existing coverage in place while reviewing alternatives.
