Compare Allianz Annuity Options With an Independent Broker

Allianz offers several annuity categories for accumulation and retirement income. The useful question is not whether one carrier is “best,” but which current contract—if any—fits your income timing, liquidity, state, funding source, and household priorities.

Start with the job the annuity must perform

Allianz offers multiple annuity designs. This insurance-only page focuses on fixed index annuities for a possible new purchase, including the different retirement-income and liquidity questions raised by Allianz 222+ and Allianz Benefit Control+.

Accumulation value

This is the contract value relevant to lump-sum access and surrender. Compare fixed and indexed crediting choices, caps, participation terms, charges, withdrawal provisions, market value adjustment, renewal control, and how fees or withdrawals can reduce value.

Protected Income Value

Allianz uses a separate value to calculate eligible lifetime withdrawals in these income-focused designs. It is not the same as accumulation value and is not itself available as a lump sum. Compare how it grows, when income may start, and how withdrawals affect it.

Lifetime-income flexibility

Compare income timing, single or joint treatment, built-in income features, potential increases, qualifying enhanced-withdrawal provisions, death-benefit choices, and the tradeoff between future income and present liquidity.

Current-facts boundary: Product-category facts on this page were reviewed against Allianz’s public consumer pages on August 16, 2026. Rates, illustrations, appointments, state approvals, contracts, and availability must be checked again at the time of a recommendation.

What to compare in Allianz 222+

Allianz presents 222+ as a fixed index annuity designed to emphasize lifetime income. Its Protected Income Value and accumulation value serve different purposes, so the illustration must show both.

Income timing matters

The product is positioned for consumers who can defer lifetime withdrawals for the contract-defined period. Compare the planned income date with liquidity needs, surrender provisions, and alternatives designed for earlier access.

Bonuses are not lump-sum cash

Allianz states that premium and interest bonuses are credited to Protected Income Value and are used through eligible lifetime withdrawals. They are not included in a full lump-sum accumulation-value withdrawal. Review every condition before assigning value to a bonus.

Income and death-benefit elections

Compare lifetime-withdrawal increases, qualifying enhanced-income provisions, the Income Flex election, and beneficiary choices between contract-defined lump-sum and installment structures. Elections may affect accumulation value and other benefits.

Index Lock is an election

Index Lock may lock a positive index change for certain allocation options. Exercising it can produce a higher or lower credit than leaving the strategy unlocked, and the insurer does not advise when to use it. Availability and mechanics vary.

What to compare in Allianz Benefit Control+

Allianz presents Benefit Control+ as a fixed index annuity balancing accumulation, retirement income, and more flexible access. The choices can change which contract value receives the most emphasis.

Earlier income access

Current consumer materials describe lifetime withdrawals that may begin earlier and on eligible monthly anniversaries. Compare the starting income, future increase mechanics, tax consequences, and what the earlier start does to later income potential.

Income focus versus cash-value focus

The accelerated approach emphasizes Protected Income Value, while the balanced approach places more emphasis on accumulation value. Because Protected Income Value is not cash value, compare both paths under the same age, premium, and income date.

Flexible withdrawals have consequences

Penalty-free access and carryover provisions are contract-defined. Withdrawals beyond permitted amounts may trigger charges, a market value adjustment, lost income value, or reduced benefits. Keep adequate emergency reserves outside the annuity.

Enhanced-income conditions

The Income Multiplier and Income Flex provisions have eligibility rules and can affect accumulation value or other benefits. Current state-approved materials must confirm qualifying events, waiting periods, duration, recovery treatment, and availability.

Keep the comparison inside the correct professional scope

A carrier name can cover materially different contracts. This page addresses insurance-only annuity evaluation and does not provide securities, tax, or legal advice.

  • Fixed indexed annuity terms, renewal provisions, withdrawal charges, and market value adjustments must be checked in current approved materials.
  • Fixed indexed annuities are insurance contracts and do not directly invest in an index or stock portfolio.
  • Protected Income Value is not the same as accumulation value and is not available as a lump sum.
  • Variable annuities, registered index-linked annuities, and securities advice are outside this insurance-only page’s scope.
  • First Freedom Life does not state or imply a current Allianz appointment; appointment, product access, and state availability must be confirmed before any product discussion.
  • Existing Allianz policy service, claims, login, phone-directory, and customer-service requests belong with Allianz’s official service channels.

Compare the contract, not the carrier name alone

A carrier comparison is meaningful only when the illustration uses the same consumer facts and when tradeoffs are reviewed side by side.

1

Income objective and start date

Identify whether the goal is accumulation, income beginning soon, or income after a deferral period. Compare single and joint choices, income duration, rider charges, and what happens at death.

2

Liquidity and surrender terms

Keep emergency and near-term spending reserves outside a restricted contract. Review the withdrawal-charge schedule, no-charge withdrawal provisions, market value adjustment if applicable, and how excess withdrawals affect benefits.

3

Crediting terms and contract control

For indexed strategies, compare caps, participation rates, spreads, index-crediting dates, fixed-strategy terms, and the insurer’s contractual discretion to reset renewal terms. These are not direct investments in an index.

4

State, appointment, suitability, and replacement

Confirm the product is approved in the consumer’s state and available through the current distribution relationship. If replacing an existing annuity, compare surrender costs, lost benefits, new restrictions, compensation and conflicts, tax consequences, and the consumer’s needs and objectives.

Insurer boundary: Every contractual guarantee depends on the issuing insurer’s claims-paying ability and the contract terms. Financial-strength ratings are opinions that can change; they are not guarantees of performance or suitability.

What this page intentionally does not publish

No live rates

Credited rates, caps, participation terms, spreads, and renewal terms can change. Use current approved materials for the exact contract and state.

No payout or bonus figures

Income and bonus values depend on product version, age, premium, state, start date, rider, payout option, and contract terms. A current carrier illustration is required.

No blanket recommendation

An Allianz product may or may not fit. Compare alternatives, liquidity, existing products, compensation, tax status, time horizon, household objectives, and insurer strength before deciding.

Allianz annuity questions

Is First Freedom Life part of Allianz?

No. First Freedom Life is an independent insurance brokerage. This is not an Allianz corporate page, and it is not sponsored or endorsed by Allianz. This page does not state or imply a current Allianz appointment. Product access requires current producer appointment, state approval, distribution availability, approved materials, and suitability review.

Is this page for Allianz account login or existing-policy service?

No. This page is only for consumers evaluating a possible new annuity purchase. It does not provide account login, policy service, claims, phone-directory, or customer-service support. Existing contract owners should use Allianz’s official service channels.

How do Allianz 222+ and Benefit Control+ differ?

Allianz presents both as fixed index annuities with retirement-income features. Allianz 222+ emphasizes future lifetime income and Protected Income Value mechanics, while Benefit Control+ emphasizes flexible income access and a choice between strategies that focus differently on Protected Income Value and accumulation value. Current approved illustrations and contracts are required for an exact comparison.

Does this page show current Allianz rates, bonuses, or payout amounts?

No. Rates, crediting terms, bonus values, rider values, and income amounts can change and may vary by contract version, state, age, premium, start date, and payout election. Exact figures require current insurer-approved materials, an illustration when applicable, and contract disclosures.

Does an Allianz fixed indexed annuity invest directly in a market index?

No. A fixed indexed annuity is an insurance contract, not a direct investment in an index or stock portfolio. Interest-crediting results depend on contract-specific strategies, caps, participation terms, charges, and other limits described in current approved materials.

Are Protected Income Value bonuses available as cash?

Not as a lump sum. Allianz states that Protected Income Value bonuses are used in calculating eligible lifetime withdrawals and are distinct from accumulation value. A full lump-sum withdrawal uses accumulation value and does not include those bonuses. Current contract terms and withdrawal effects control.

What information is needed for an independent Allianz comparison?

A useful comparison needs the consumer’s age, state, amount considered, funding source, income-start goal, single or joint preference, liquidity needs, legacy priorities, tax status, and existing products. Any recommendation also requires confirmed product availability, current producer appointment, insurer-approved materials, contract disclosures, compensation review, and suitability analysis.
