Compare the SILAC contract with the job you need it to do
A search for a SILAC annuity can lead to different insurance contracts. Some focus on a stated interest rate for a selected period; others use indexed crediting, income features or beneficiary benefits. Start with the exact product name and version, then compare access to money and the proposed purpose before considering a transfer.
First Freedom Life is an independent insurance brokerage. This is independent education, not SILAC's corporate website, policyholder portal or an endorsement by the insurer. For an existing policy's account balance, service request or claim, contact SILAC through its official website. For a new insurance comparison, an inquiry can begin with your question; choosing a product is not required.
Fixed-rate accumulation and indexed crediting are different choices
SILAC's consumer MYGA overview describes Secure Savings and Secure Savings Elite as fixed-annuity families. The selected guarantee period and access provisions matter together. Its overview distinguishes built-in liquidity from choices that can exchange some credited interest for additional liquidity. Request the actual state-specific terms rather than assuming every version has the same withdrawal and death-benefit treatment.
With an indexed annuity, the contract's interest formula is a separate question from a fixed-rate guarantee. Ask how the selected strategy measures an index, which limits apply and when interest can be credited. A market index is a reference for a contract formula, not an account holding the index's stocks. A quoted cap or participation rate is not a promised annual return.
Teton and Denali: compare accumulation and access together
The Teton consumer page presents Teton and Teton Bonus as accumulation-focused indexed annuities. The Denali consumer page also describes indexed accumulation, with optional Elevation and Elevation Plus features addressing liquidity. These are starting points for a contract comparison, not interchangeable product names.
Ask for an explanation of the standard withdrawal allowance, when it begins, and the charge for taking more. If a bonus or optional feature is proposed, compare its recovery conditions and the annual spread or other cost alongside the benefit. Money credited to a contract is not necessarily money available immediately without a charge.
Both consumer pages discuss required minimum distributions and specific health-related access provisions. Have the insurer confirm how those provisions operate in your actual contract. An RMD rule does not mean every withdrawal from every contract is free, and a health-related provision depends on its eligibility and claim terms.
Income and legacy questions need their own review
SILAC's product directory separates income-oriented Evolve from accumulation and legacy categories. Its Vega consumer overview describes a fixed indexed family with income options and enhanced legacy features. Identify the exact benefit being discussed, how it is measured and the conditions for using it.
If you want retirement income, ask whether the proposed payment comes from annuitization, a withdrawal benefit or scheduled withdrawals. Compare the effect of extra withdrawals and any rider cost. An income or benefit base should not be presented as your cash surrender value. If leaving money to a beneficiary is the priority, review beneficiary designations and the death benefit separately from an income illustration.
Bring the contract questions, not a decision to replace
For a useful comparison, note your state, approximate age, account type, desired timing and the cash you need to keep accessible. Ask for the current carrier-approved illustration, surrender-charge schedule, applicable market value adjustment, bonus-recovery terms, rider disclosures and renewal choices. Do not send account numbers or login credentials in an initial inquiry.
If an existing annuity or retirement account would fund the purchase, compare keeping it as well. Check existing charges, benefits and guarantees before authorizing a change. Your custodian and qualified tax professional should address distribution and rollover eligibility. An annuity inside an IRA does not create a second layer of tax deferral.
Product availability, producer appointment, versions and features must be verified for your state and distribution channel. Guarantees depend on the issuing insurer's claims-paying ability; these contracts are not bank deposits or federally insured savings accounts. Withdrawals can reduce contract value, and taxes and contract charges may apply. First Freedom Life can explain insurance options and tradeoffs; it does not provide tax, legal or investment advice.
